We can hardly believe Boardmasters is behind us, it feels like this summer is flying by but what a summer it has been! The festival was more significant than ever with typical August weather conditions, sunshine, wind and rain. Thankfully the surf wasn’t flat, and there were, in fact, a few waves around for the surfers to get stuck into.
If you managed to get down and watch the Boardmasters surf competition then hopefully you got to see our very own surf school owner Adam Griffiths in action in the Men’s Open Longboard. Adam made it into the semi-final with a battle against fellow Cornwall based surfer Ben Skinner. Both surfers went head to head in a man on man head in tough high tide conditions with Ben narrowly beating Adam. With only 0.26 between the first and second place, you can imagine what a gripping heat it was to watch.
Adam scored the highest of the entire event with one of his opening rides in his semi-final heat but couldn’t quite get the backup score with the waves not quite delivering the goods.
Even though Adam didn’t make it to the final, we are still so stoked to see him taking out some of Europes best surfers at his home break.
The next stop for Adam is California to compete at the world-class wave Trestles.
