If you are looking to bring your school to Newquay for a surfing day or a surfing-led residential, please get in touch! Our sister company and school trip specialist, First Wave Adventures, will be delighted to help. First Wave Adventures have years of experience with school groups of all ages and are geared-up perfectly to help with outdoor learning and activities for schools and junior sports clubs.
First Wave Adventures and NQY Surf School provide everything for an action-packed day or extended programme of exciting activities on Great Western Beach. Learn to surf on our own beach or explore our rugged coastline by coasteering through Newquay’s historic coves, all with our full qualified and DBS-checked instructors. For those who aren’t fully up for surfing, we also offer bodyboarding sessions for kids of all ages.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I get my own surf board?
Yes, every surfer gets their very own surfboard & wetsuit.
What safety precautions are taken?
All of our surf coaches are ISA certified, Life Guard trained and First-Aid qualified. You are in very good hands when you’re out in the water.
Do I need to know how to swim?
For surfing lessons, if you cannot swim more than 100 metres, you will need to make this known on your Activity Waiver. For coasteering, it’s 50 metres. Please also confirm with your instructor before the start of your lesson. You can still learn to surf in waist-deep water, although in these circumstances, we recommend that you have a Private Surf Lesson.
