Learning to Surf

Have you been thinking about booking surf lessons for a while but have a few reservations, hopefully, this blog will put your mind at ease and answer any questions you may have?

Standing up

It could have been something you’ve wanted to do for years but have put it off until now, whatever your reason for wanting to learn how to surf the first questions you’re probably going to ask yourself is, do I need to book surf lessons?

The simple answer to this questions is, yes. Getting a surf lesson or a few lessons booked in before you venture out into the ocean to try surfing for the first time is in our opinion always a good idea and here are the three main reasons why.

1. You will learn how to stay safe in the water.

2. You will learn the basics, from how to carry a surfboard, how to avoid injury, what to do if you get into difficulty. All the really important stuff you won’t learn if you’re not taught.

3. You will only surf in safe conditions.

Before your surf lesson, here are some things to think about.

Hints and Tips For New Surfers

Don’t be scared: Surfing is a fun, free sport that should be enjoyed not feared.

Book with a friend: It’s always fun to try a new skill with a friend so grab a mate and learn to surf together.

It’s ok not to stand up the first time: Surfing is a hard sport to master and it may take a few goes before you master standing up and riding waves but don’t get disheartened, everyone who has ever learned to surf has been through this.

Be prepared for fun: Surfing is a really fun and you’re going to laugh a lot and probably ache a little in muscles you never knew you had.
